Walkthrough[]

After fighting through Lesser Demons and Skeletons, you enter a chamber and confront Neron who stands on a higher floor. He informs you that you have awakened Greed, which then appears on the ground.

First boss: Greed[]

Greed attacks with Hand Blast. He has two special mechanics:

  • He can remove all your abilities and replaces your weapon with Brawling (interact with the treasure chest in the southwest corner to undo this).
  • Gold Crush: At 75%, 50%, and 25% health, Greed teleports to the center of the room and become immune to damage. You must destroy at least 3 of the 6 piles of treasures around the room to interrupt this or he will do massive damage to all targets. If he succeeds in using Gold Crush, he can immediately follow up with another Gold Crush or ability disable, so it is vital to interrupt.

After defeating him, continue until you find Neron at the final chamber of the underworld castle. Black Adam attempts to trade the player's soul for Isis, but Neron finds them unworthy (hero) or says they will belong to him anyway (villain) and instead asks for Kahndaq, saying he will split Isis into deadly and virtuous halves, one for the living and one for the underworld. Black Adam accepts, but was tricked when Neron traps the virtuous Isis in the underworld and releases the deadly one.

Last boss: Neron[]

Neron also attacks with Hand Blast. He has two special mechanics:

  • Pool of Lava: Multiple pools appear on the ground, dealing heavy continuous damage if you are within (ignores Shield Powers, but does not damage pets). Neron does not have a grounding attack - players with Flight can simply remain in the air to avoid this entirely (you need to Breakout quickly if Neron uses a knock down weapon combo like Meteor Blast though). Otherwise, you can stand in the raised rocks on the north side of the chamber (behind Isis) as lava pools can only appear on flat ground.
  • True Form: At 75%, 50%, and 25% health, Neron teleports to the east side of the chamber and splits into four. The true form is the one with green smoke around his legs. If it is not KO'ed in time, the illusions disappear and Neron stuns and deal heavy damage (Shield Power can block the damage) to all nearby targets. Because he does not move during this time and this attack has a limited range, you can avoid this by standing on the west side, or hovering above near the ceiling on the east side. Do not stay in the air on the west side, because this can cause his health to reset. Therefore, staying high up in the air on the east side can negate both of his mechanics. While Neron is vulnerable to control effects, which can interrupt the True Form attack (before he can split into 4), he will keep attempting to use it, and if interrupted too many times, his health can also reset, which should be avoided.

Trivia[]

  • Story-wise, this challenge is framed as a flashback (as Billy Batson is "recapping" it) of events occurring prior to Infernal Kahndaq.
  • Upon release, this was simply titled "The Treachery of Black Adam" without the prefix. This was soon fixed.
  • If you go up to Neron's upper floor, he can be attacked and damaged but this would cause him and Greed to continuously be reset back on that floor. This can be fixed by going back down to ground level to fight Greed normally.
  • In the upper-level library on the opposite wall where Neron is first spotted, a book on a table could be found, titled "Hex Appeal" and featuring Zatanna on the cover. This book is also available as base items: Hex Appeal and Hex Appeal - Stack.
  • Greed's treasure piles contain plush dolls of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Joker, and King Shark (albeit with a classical depiction, not the hammerhead version of King Shark in DCUO).
  • Greed's combat voice lines are recycled from James, appropriately Trigon's son of Greed.
  • Only the first half of the Underworld map is accessible in this instance. It would be fully explored in SoBA: Neron's Underworld.
  • Neron is briefly targetable before the cutscene prior to his boss fight. He will continue to take damage during the cutscene and could even fall below the 75% health threshold to trigger his first True Form attack.
  • There are a number of paintings in the instance:
    • There are two in a chamber under the stairs near the entrance.
      • The one in the east depicts the aurora over some hills.
      • The one in the west depicts a skeletal figure with glowing eyes.
    • There are five in a chamber west of where you fight Greed.
      • The one on the north side of the entrance corridor depicts a cloudscape.
      • The one on the east wall depicts a sunset/sunrise above water and boats.
      • The one on the south wall depicts two skeletal figures.
      • The one on the west wall (top) is a replica of Saturn Devouring His Son.
      • The one on the west wall (bottom) is a replica of The Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
