You must rescue Sinestro and Larfleeze from the Book the Black so the light of all corps can be combined to create a White Lantern to combat the Black Lantern threat. In the alert version, the Sinestro segment is skipped and he can be freed immediately.
Sinestro[]
There are 8 pillars around the area each projecting a red beam into the sky. Defeat Scribes, each carrying a rune, and interact with them after they are defeated to take their rune. Then interact with the pillar of the same rune to deactivate it until all are shut down. Each pillar requires 2 runes - you need to use the currently glowing red rune on them. Therefore, you need a total of 16 runes. The right runes may not be immediately available and you'd have to keep defeating Scribes until you get the right one.
There are two Zombie Abomination fights, one before and one after freeing Sinestro. However, the second one can be easily lured onto the bridge and then off into the water - the water does not harm players if they fall in (although it would instant KO pets), but will instantly KO the Zombie Abomination.
Larfleeze[]
Larfleeze's hoard has been robbed by his own orange lanterns. Defeat the orange lanterns and Treasure Hoarders hiding in the area, take the hoard and carry them back to Larfleeze until his hoard is fully restored.
Attempt to retrieve the orange lantern battery, and Avaricious Glomulus appears. Defeat him to complete this section.
Lyssa Drak[]
Lyssa Drak starts with a shield that makes her immune to damage. The mechanic is similar to the Sinestro pillar segment. The Book of the Black displays a line of runes, all black instead of the current one, which is in red. Defeat Scribes to obtain the runes matching the red rune and interact with the Book to proceed. Once the whole line is fulfilled, Lyssa can be damaged. After a while, her immunity would return and you would need to do it again.
Lyssa Drak fights with One-Handed and has an orbital strike-like attack consisting of multiple yellow beams.
Runes on defeated Scribes have an expire timer. When picked up, you cannot see a timer, but it will still eventually expire. However, the timer is refreshed on pick up. Since there is no harm in carrying a rune - you can override with a new rune if necessary - you can pick up a rune which is about to expire and hold it, if it is going to be useful next.
Once defeated, Lyssa Drak flees. However, in the walk-in solo version, Black Lantern Voivode shows up to kill her, and denies her a Black Lantern ring.
