NthMetal

Nth-Metal, also known as Ninth Metal, is a hyper-conductive metal native to Thanagar. Among the unusual properties of the metal is the ability to negate gravity, allowing a person wearing an object made of Nth-Metal; such as a belt, to fly.
In addition, the metal can also speed the healing of wounds, increase the wearer's strength, and protects them from the environment and extremes in temperature by regulating its users' body temperatures (generating heat in cold environments and generating cold in hot environments). The metal also possesses innate anti-magical properties and can disrupt ghosts and spirits upon contact with their spectral forms.

Background[]

Used as shielding around the engines of all Thanagarian Warbird ships. In ancient Egypt a Thanagarian spaceship made of Nth-Metal crash-landed, only to be discovered by Prince Khufu and his betrothed, Chay-ara. Constant exposure to the metal forced Khufu and Chay-ara into a cycle of reincarnation. In the 20th century, they were incarnated as Carter Hall and Shiera Saunders, the original Hawkman and Hawkgirl where they wore Nth metal belts, made with the help of the Thanagarian Paran Katar.

Involvement[]

  • A sample of Nth-Metal appears as a captured artifact within the Nexus of Reality. Due to its presence, power pools will appear on the floor during the final battle that will provide Power if a player stands within them.
  • Nth-Metal is the core reagent for Artifacts. Once the player has acquired their first Artifact, they will be able to find Nth Metal as a rare drop from defeating NPCs and be able to get large caches of Nth Metal by completing the Vault and the Stabilizer Event. Nth Metal comes in various qualities, with rarer, more refined pieces granting larger amounts of Item Experience when used to fortify Artifacts.

Trivia[]

  • Nth Metal is classified as a Transuranic Iron ore with an Atomic Number of 26 and an Atomic Mass of 676.
  • In the future, members of the Legion of Super Heroes wear flight rings made of an alloy of Nth metal called Valorium.
  • Carter and Shiera's son, Hector Hall, made a suit of armor made of Nth metal and took the name Silver Scarab as a founding member of Infinity Inc.
  • Hawkman and Hawkgirl's chest harnesses are made with Nth-Metal which is the source of their strength and ability to fly.
  • In its purest form, Nth Metal can change its shape at will and morph into different forms to suit its user's needs. Even refined forms of the Thanagarian metal can form symbiotic relationships with individuals that wield it.
  • Nth metal is one of five "divine metals" that will open a door to the Dark Multiverse; the other metals being Electrum, Dionesium, Promethium and Batmanium.
