The Legends of Tomorrow is a team of heroes and villains assembled by time traveller Rip Hunter to aid him in various missions to protect the established timeline.
While initially claiming that he recruited his team due to them being great heroes/villains with abilities that can contribute to missions, in reality he recruited them due to their futures having no immediate effect on the timeline should they vacate it.
