Walkthrough[]

The Fellowship decided that Doctor Fate, Etrigan, the Phantom Stranger, Zatanna, and Constantine will channel their powers into a single vessel - Shazam - to help defeat Mordru. However, Constantine interrupts the process and takes all the power for himself, with the aid of the Ibistick which he stole from the Rock of Eternity (presumably sometime during JLD: Pub Crawl), proclaiming this power should not be given to a man-child. While displeased, Shazam joins him and the team in forging onward.

The raid group will proceed across a series of floating islands, KOing demon adds in the process. Eventually the group encounters Tala.

Tips about progressing through the map:[]

Note: Players are grounded during the whole raid. They must jump from island to island through Shattered Gotham, and a mistake would mean falling to instant KO (Ament). Watch your step!

A good idea is to follow the map, since it includes all the islands that you need to go through. You'll need to fall some distance going from the third to fourth island (which has a pentagram which would shoot you up to the fifth). The pentagrams on blue portals are for investigations, not the raid's normal path. On the largest island of the raid, there is large building in the latter half. Normally you should run atop its roof, but there is a crevice between the first half of the island and the building that is not marked on the map. However, you will simply fall to the bottom level which won't KO you. You can warp rally, or run back up on the big slope found at the northwestern corner of the building.

Normal jumps should do fine for the whole map, although if you wish, a dodge roll (Shift+arrow key) or a lunge attack (hold left key on most weapons other than Rifle) mid-jump could let you jump further than normal.

In the elite version some of the platforms present in the normal version won't be there, so traversing through the map will be somewhat more tricky. In addition the fractured bridge in the normal version has a red liquid in between that players can walk on - this won't be present in the elite version.

Overarching mechanics for the raid (from the first boss encounter onwards):[]

Madness Meter mechanic:[]

  • Starting during the Tala fight, a "Madness" meter appears, scaling from from 0 to 100.
  • The higher it is, the more damage over time you will passively take (Madness), but it will also give you more powerful Might and Precision buffs.
  • It only increases during boss fights while Harbinger of the Devourer is active in the fight.
  • If the meter reaches 100, madness will take control of you and everyone would be tossed into the abyss and instantly KO'ed.
  • Talk to Shazam when he has a timer icon above his head and use his Wisdom of Solomon to lower the Madness meter if it gets too high (this is applied to the whole team at once even if only one person does it).
  • Note that the Madness damage over time will still be active in between boss encounters and while traversing the map after it has commenced when you encounter Tala for the first time.
  • Devouring Beam (*1): Harbinger of the Devourer will appear in the sky on one side of the map, spawning several thin light beams on the floor from one side of the island to the other. This will deal damage, stun and may knock back affected players. Due to the Harbinger of the Devourer being present for this mechanic, the Madness Meter will increase when this occurs. (Applicable to the Tala, Felix Faust and Mordru boss encounters)

First boss: Tala[]

Remember that overarching mechanics for this boss fight are active, and will commence after starting this boss encounter for the first time.

Be especially careful of the Meteor Strike mechanic, more so in elite.

On PS. Hold Square to Lunge

Mechanics:

  • Meteor Strike: Tala will launch two meteors off the ground on two players, usually the player with the most hate (normally the tank) and the player furthest away from Tala. This will do moderate damage on its initial impact, however the affected players will need to evade the second impact as this does significant damage and will leave a fire AOE on the ground, dealing considerable damage over time. In the elite version it is very likely that the second meteor impact will KO affected players.
  • Tala may periodically summon Blood Golem adds to her side. These should be KO'd as soon as possible as they will add pressure to the tank in amongst other mechanics.
  • Soul Leech: Tala will focus a beam on an affected player, dealing damage over time. This can be lunged/countered to interrupt this mechanic.
  • Incapacitating Curse: Tala will focus a purple beam on an affected player, dealing damage and stunning the player.
  • Fireball Spread: Tale may have a red skull icon above her head while looking at the player who has aggro of her, before firing a barrage of fireballs towards them. Does moderate to significant damage. (More info needed)
  • Hellfire Cone: Tala will have a red skull icon above her head while looking at a target player, before giving that player a mild damage over time.

Upon Tala's defeat, the Harbinger of the Devourer appears and devours her.

The group will then traverse across more rock islands, and KO more demon adds. Eventually they will encounter Felix Faust.

Second boss: Felix Faust[]

Remember that overarching mechanics for this boss fight are active.

Mechanics:

  • Felix Faust may summon Otherworld Daemon adds to assist him in battle.
  • Memento Mori: Felix Faust may sometimes spawn a golden spell AOE on himself. This does mild damage over time if anyone is stood in it.
  • The Harbinger of the Devourer may spawn tentacles in the fight. These can be KO'd, however if players are too close to them they may Swipe, dealing damage and may knockback affected players.
  • Felix Faust may spawn a purple shield around himself which will get more energised with time - this is a damage check. Shazam may say an audio tell in VA, stating: "Destroy the shield!" The group will need to focus damage on Felix Faust to destroy the shield. If the shield is not destroyed Felix Faust will deal a powerful Overcharge attack which will deal large raidwide damage and knockback all players in range. In the elite version this can KO some/all affected players if players do not pass the damage check.

Upon Felix Faust's defeat, the Harbinger of the Devourer appears and devours him.

The group will then proceed across more rocky islands and building rooftops, KOing more demon adds in the process. Eventually the group encounters Mordru, who creates a fractured bridge leading to the last rocky island where his boss encounter will take place.

Third boss: Mordru[]

Note: This boss encounter does not reward loot.

Remember that overarching mechanics for this boss fight are active.

Be especially careful of the Mark of Cain mechanic in both regular and elite versions. Otherwise a very straightforward fight.

Mechanics:

  • Mordru may summon Otherworld Daemon adds to assist him in battle.
  • Periodically, Mordru may have a skull icon above their head, before teleporting to a random player who he is looking at. In the elite version it may be best practice to block when this occurs if you are the targeted player.
  • Crime Bible: Mordru will have a red skull icon above his head, along with on-screen text stating "Mordru Uses the Crime Bible Against You!". A random player will get a large red aura around them. This can be cleansed by walking onto John Constantine's sigil marker, located near where John Constantine is in the map.
  • Spear of Destiny: Mordru will have a red skull icon above his head, along with on-screen text stating "Mordru Uses the Spear of Destiny!" This encases and stuns ally NPCs (eg. Shazam, John Constantine) in a red magical box.

Mark of Cain mechanic:[]

  • Stack mechanic.
  • Mordru will have a red skull icon above his head, along with on-screen text stating "Mordru Uses the Mark of Cain Against You!".
  • A random player in the group will get a Mark of Cain red marker above their head. As many players as possible will need to group up very close to that player to mitigate incoming damage from Mark of Cain.
  • Approximately 6 seconds after the marker appears it will deal large damage.
  • If no-one stacks on that player, or only 1 or 2 other players stack on that player, all affected by the Mark of Cain impact will be KO'd, regular or elite version.
  • The more players that stack close together on the affected player, the less incoming damage there will be and the less likely this will cause KO's.
  • Depending on other mechanics ongoing, it may be best practice to block before being affected by this mechanic.
  • NOTE: This is not a block mechanic by itself. If not enough players stack and you block while either having the Mark of Cain marker yourself or being close to another player who has the Mark of Cain marker, affected players will still be KO'd regardless. This is the case for both regular and elite versions.

Upon Mordru's defeat, the Harbinger of the Devourer appears and devours him, leaving your raid group to face the Harbinger of the Devourer.

Last boss: Harbinger of the Devourer[]

Mechanics:

  • NOTE: As Harbinger of the Devourer is active throughout the fight, the Madness Meter will increase steadily throughout the fight. The group will need to be more mindful of Shazam's timer icons and when to speak to him, especially in the elite version and especially if the group are trying to do any Madness-related feats. This overarching mechanic will be active throughout this boss encounter.
  • Knockback Attack: The boss will spin in the air while looking in a particular direction, before charging in that direction. Players directly affected by this will take considerable damage (possibly multiple ticks of damage) and be knocked back.
  • Harbinger of the Devourer may summon Otherworld Daemon adds to assist it in battle.
  • Vicious Barrage: A shower of blue sparks that flies in every direction, damaging and knocking back anyone they hit.
  • Devouring Beam (*2): Targeted attack on many opponents at once, possibly stunning. This differs from the Devouring Beam seen in earlier boss encounters. This can sometimes be referred to in the combat log as Paradox Beam.
  • Dive Bomb: The Harbinger briefly disappears into the sky before slamming down, damaging and knocking back nearby opponents. Warned by Lethal attack icon.
  • Stunning Attack: The Harbinger will have a red skull icon above their head, before moving around while looking at a targeted player. It will then stun the player, biting it and dealing heavy damage.

When it is destroyed, Constantine says the Lords of Order should be able to get rid of the beast in the sky now. He refuses to return the power however, despite Zatanna's concern that it would corrupt even those purer of heart than him. He says he's going to settle a few debts and vanishes.

Trivia[]

  • Mordru's fate was eventually revealed in Mordru Unbound (Investigations) in the Long Live the Legion episode, where he stated he overcame the Harbinger of the Devourer and subsumed its power.
  • Legion: Convergence of Unmaking released afterwards also had a boss fight against Mordru and platforming gameplay via grounding players.
