Walkthrough[]
At the end of FP: Flashtastic Voyage it is revealed Kid Flash is trapped in Brainiac's nightmare world. FP: Flash to the Future opens with Flashpoint Cyborg busting Kid Flash out of his pod in a Brainiac fortress.
After fighting through some mobs, you face the only boss, Brainiac. He has 3 phases (with the same health bar); whenever he loses 1/3 health, there is a brief cutscene and you gain loot. KO'ed players can rejoin as if the next phase is a different boss. However, mobs will remain, and you will be repositioned by the cutscene, so pay extra attention at the transition to avoid being caught unawares. He has these attacks:
- Furnace Blast: Brainiac may stomp on the ground, dealing considerable damage to players or pets nearby. He usually does this a few times at the start of each phase after commencing the boss encounter or phase for the first time. In elite or the elite stages any non-tank roles should stay max range of Brainiac when he does this otherwise it will do very heavy damage or likely KO affected players.
- Spin Charge - Brainiac spins in place before charging towards the player with the red marker over his/her head. This is usually indicated initially by Brainiac doing a point emote at the targeted player.
- Afterburner - After marking the area in red, he blasts a cone in front of him with his exhaust jets, pushing all targets back. This does heavy damage and will KO in the higher elite stages.
- Multiplicity Flash - Brainiac creates a brightly flashing golden-purple circular wall around himself (with a red circle indicator warning shortly before). The radius varies with each use. Passing through or touching the wall deals continuous damage.
- Multiplicity Singularity - Similar to above, but a beehive-shaped wall instead; this gives no warning but is always small in radius.
- Multiplicity Beam - 4 thin orange beams on a horizontal plane, 90 degrees away from each other, that is emitted by Brainiac and extends to the walls of the room.
- Electrical Burst - Glowing, pulsing orbs on the ground that damage any nearby players continuously.
- The Flash's Energy Root - Jay Garrick, trapped on the ceiling, shoots down bolts of continuous lightning that damages targets that come into contact.
- Brainiac can summon two noninteractive images of himself at one wall and teleport himself between them. After briefly marking the area in red, all three bombard a broad line directly in front of them across the whole arena (ignores Shield Powers). If this hits a player it deals heavy damage (it is implied this mechanic is being dealt by Brainiac directly in the combat log; this mechanic does not have a name specifically)
- Pull - Starting in phase 2, he additionally gains the ability to pull in all nearby targets, damaging them.
- The Flash's Voltaic Bolt - Jay Garrick shoots beams that creates spots of wild electricity on the ground that damages and stuns any target nearby (warned by a red targeting reticle shortly beforehand).
- Brainiac may do a Pulse Beam attack on a random player. This does heavy damage over time and the player may need to block - heals and shields will also help. In the harder elite stages this will probably KO so it may be advised for all players to run Amazonium Deflection in their loadout to mitigate incoming damage, and use this only when Brainiac is going to use Pulse Beam on you.
- Adds will spawn shortly after the phase starts, the tank should pull these and stay to the top right of the room. The adds do not need to be KO'd, unless for feats. The tank should be mindful at all times and be ready in case Brainiac targets the tank with Spin Charge. It may be advisable in the harder elite stages to run with 2 tanks if incoming damage is too much for the 1 tank with the adds.
- Brainiac may occasionally do a cone attack with several fireballs. These can do major damage in regular elite but can KO on impact in the higher elite stages.
- Around the edge of the room turrets may spawn and shoot projectiles. These can do damage, heavy damage in the harder elite stages.
- Multiple Digitized Jay Garricks are summoned to fight you.
Considerations/differences for the harder elite stages:
- From stage 2 and higher, Brainiac Neurocrawlers will spawn, these having a timer above their heads. They will walk across the map towards a random player. When the timer runs out these adds will explode (Charged Blast), doing some knock back and considerable damage within the area of effect. Players should evade these. In the harder elite stages these are more recurrent, the range of the AOE is greater, and the explosion is likely to KO especially for DPS, controllers or healers.
- In the harder elite stages, it is possible during Brainiac's invulnerable/bombard phase with the 3 red AOEs for him to immediately use Spin Charge on a targeted player after. This doesn't always occur but prepare accordingly as if he will actually charge/impact for real, as sometimes this can happen.
After defeating Brainiac, Jay Garrick is freed. Together with Kid Flash and The Flash, they run off in an attempt to fix the timeline. Flashpoint Cyborg expresses his hope that it worked. (This is not a cutscene and can be missed if you leave right after getting loot.)
