Exo-Material is an uncommon R&D Part. Exo-Material sources can be found all over Gotham, Metropolis, and other open-world zones--similar to how the deprecated Exobits used to be gathered--with each source yielding 1 to 3 Exo-Material(s) and members receiving an additional 1.

Exo-Material sources generally cannot be found in instanced areas. They also do not appear in most open-world zones from episodes prior to Legion of Doom (Episode), except Central City.

Other than Exo-Material, source nodes may also occasionally yield Time Capsules, Nth Metal (Artifacts) and Ally Favors.

Trivia[]

  • The item was introduced with game update 85 and replaced the Simple Material and Complex Materials as basic material for Research and Development. Before that Exobytes would drop from these nodes.
  • Exo-Material sources emit a constant tune or hum that becomes louder the closer the player is to one. It should be noted that while the volume drops sharply when a player next to it move away, a very faint hum could actually be heard in a surprisingly large area, but it is usually covered by various other sounds in the game. It is possible to tell the direction from the differences between channels (sound localization). This can be modified through Audio settings - turning Effects up and everything else down makes the Exo-Material hum more prominent.
  • Ally: Krypto is an affordable ally that can boost average Exo-Material yield.
