DoR: Kaznian Necropolis Assault is a tier 7 alert in the Day of Reckoning chapter. It also features elite and elite plus versions.

There are three distinct versions of the instance. DoR: Kaznian Necropolis Assault is 4-player alert and DoR: Kaznian Necropolis Onslaught is the 8-player raid, both playable via the On Duty menu. Kaznian Necropolis Strike is the 1-player version during the Day of Reckoning introduction mission series, which can be accessed freely afterwards via the Necropolis at Midnight portal in Kaznia City.

Story[]

You have a lead at the Kaznian Necropolis. After discovering a vital tip from a trusted source, you, Constantine, and Voivode plan an all-out assault to stop the forces of evil and free the spirits under their control.

Walkthrough[]

This alert is divided into three stages, Purify, Escort and Felix Faust, counting as the First Subboss, Second Subboss, and Final Boss in the On Duty menu. Due to the unique gameplay, players often go all DPS in the Purify and Escort stages, only switching to more typical Team Roles composition for the Felix Faust boss fight.

Talk to Voivode and she points you to Constantine's portal at the entrance of the Necropolis.

Purify[]

This stages involves capture point gameplay. In the alert, only 2 obelisks (north and west) are active. When players go through Constantine's portal, they will be teleported to one of them, with 2 players assigned to one, although they can freely move between them as needed.

Note: Currently, many players would skip this stage with a 5 minute wait (this does work in Elite also). After starting the instance, do not capture obelisks and wait for 5 minutes before capturing both. Undead mobs only spawn if you kill existing ones. This completes the purify stage. Additionally, this counts towards the No Take Backsies feat (can't lose an obelisk if you didn't claim one), which is otherwise one of the harder normal feats in the instance.

Capture bars are displayed on the interface to the right of the screen. They start out fully red (100% Faust control). By being on the magic circle around the obelisk, players passively capture the point and push the yellow marker to the right, replacing the red with blue. Each player contributes 1 unit of capture speed. Faust will send waves of undead at the obelisks, and they capture for Faust at the same speed. Arrows (> or <) indicate the direction the marker is moving.

Once the marker is past halfway point, it is considered to be under player control. A timer starts to count down from 2 minutes before completion of this stage when both obelisks are under player control. If Faust recaptures an obelisk, the timer disappears and resets, but players will eventually complete the state after they recapture them a few times (control for the full duration is only required for a feat).

Typically, each wave consists of 2-3 undead, but occasionally, and seemingly randomly, a large horde would appear (with warning message), which can capture the obelisk for Faust in seconds. Players from the other obelisk may come over to deal with it. A horde always include one Dead Winter, a large undead with much higher health. Ignore it until all the other undead are killed, as all enemies capture at the same rate.

One way to stop the large horde from capturing is using Mesmerizing Lasso with Lasso of Truth (Artifact), which can continuously drag mobs to the user or they must use repeatedly use Pull abilities, with Dominance higher than enemy Willpower. They can go outside the circle while other players stay inside and kill the mobs.

In Elite, other than the mobs being tougher, Solomon Grundy will spawn shortly after start (with warning message). He cannot capture points, but will walk through the paths seemingly randomly until he spots a player and attacks. He is marked with the skull icon on the minimap similar to the open world boss in Kaznia City, and has very similar attacks, but hits much harder (Stomp Smash alone can deal one-shot damage). It is not required to kill him but he could be a significant nuisance, being much more dangerous than the other mobs. Note that during the Purify and Escort stages, KO'ed players can simply rejoin, even in Elite, so you would eventually be able to pass the stage even with many KO'es.

Once killed however, Grundy does not seem to respawn, which would make the purify and escort stages much more manageable.

Escort[]

Once Purify is complete, players move onto the Escort stage. The capture bars continue to be active. An Avenging Spirit spawns from the obelisks. Interact with one and it would start flying towards Faust's shield in the middle of the area. At least one player must remain in close proximity or it will stop working - even a lunge attack can easily take you out of the zone. Due to the narrowness of the path at points, players may also need to pay attention to avoid blocking the way, with themselves or various summons.

Numerous mobs on the way will attempt to kill it. Magents may also trap Spirits or players and you have to mash buttons to get free. You don't have to kill all of them however, just peeling them off the Spirit with crowd control will work for most. Typically, one player escorts the Spirit while one defends the obelisk. Escorting is harder than defending, so the stronger player with Stun or Controller should escort if possible. Typically, as long as you have adequate crowd control, the spirits can reach the shield with ~70% health left even without killing mobs.

Once a Spirit reaches the shield, it disappears and adds 1 to the objective counter. You need to escort 6 Spirits to complete the Escort stage. Another Spirit would shortly afterwards appear at the obelisk if it is controlled by players. The western path is shorter than the northern one, so it is normal to reach the shield faster.

In Elite, Solomon Grundy continues to be a thorn in your side. It is vital to get him away from Avenging Spirits, as he can kill one in ~3 hits. Grundy can be killed while waiting for the purified stage to complete, making this easier. Both players may need to escort the spirit due to the increased difficulty (even without Grundy around). Faust recapturing an obelisk while the Spirit is en route does not negatively affect it (only required for feat).

It is also not required to split the team and escort spirits from both obelisks; players can simply all go to the west obelisk to escort spirits from there (as the path to the shield is shorter than the northern one), especially if struggling with Elite difficulty, where the mobs can kill the spirits much faster.

Felix Faust[]

Felix Faust serves as the more traditional final boss of the alert. Voivode joins you in this fight; her health can be depleted but she will continue to fight, without needing to be revived.

  • Skull Blast
  • Soul Prison: Traps a player in a white magic cage, dealing moderate damage.
  • Magic Blast: Faust marks a large conical area in red in front of him before blasting it for massive damage.
  • Necrotic Aura: Players are marked with a circle of purple arrows (>>>), damaging any friendly targets nearby (including your own pets). In Elite, this can KO in ~3 ticks.
  • Dark Totem: Faust marks many red circles on the ground before summoning spectral pillars in the middle of every one. Rune circles centered around them deal damage over time to anyone within.

In Elite, Felix Faust is still fairly straightforward, without much in advanced mechanics (the Elite Plus raid version has additional mechanics). His attacks are obviously telegraphed and his damage is not too high, so as long as you avoid the glowing red marked areas and the purple arrows it shouldn't be too hard. As long as the tank is good, non-tanks take low enough damage a healer is not needed, even in Elite.

Trivia[]

  • During the purify stage, if you aggro the mobs and move far away, they will walk a short distance towards you before returning to the obelisk repeatedly. This keeps you in combat constantly.
  • Until an update in late Feb 2025, Spirits walked instead of flew, and the escort segment was significantly slower.
  • Both male and female voices of ghosts are heard at the start of the escort section, but only female Avenging Spirits are seen.
