Day of Reckoning is tier 7 playable content that contains the open world Kaznia City, the challenge DoR: Desecrated Mausoleum, the alert DoR: Kaznian Necropolis Assault and the two raids DoR: Kaznian Necropolis Onslaught and DoR: Flashback: Neron's Underworld.
The chapter is intended to be the first of a 4-part story arc, "Light and Rain".
The casual mode version is available for player characters with level 20 or above.
This chapter also features an event running from January 28 through February 24, 2025, where exclusive rewards and resources can be earned by completing missions to earn progress points.

- Teasers to Day of Reckoning can be found in the last episode, Harley Quinn vs. Apokolips, in the form of The Exobyte Killer (Briefings).
- Story Blogs #1 to #3 serve as a prelude to Day of Reckoning.
- Unlike previous episodes, Day of Reckoning was not put on the Test Server prior to official release.
- Al Rivera, creative director for DC Universe™ Online wore a Blue Lantern ring and recited part of the oath at the end of the behind the scenes video. An in-game character with a blue ring is later shown at the launch trailer for the chapter, revealed to be Esperanza Cavalera on launch.
- A log-in pop-up appeared before the proper launch, erroneously claiming that it only has a Solo and a Raid prior to its launch. It also advertised a "Lost Sinner Time Capsule", when it is revealed to be the Mystical Magician Time Capsule on launch.
- Origin Augments are now maxed out at 412.
- Generic gear's maximum level is raised to 395, although there is a bug with weapon boxes where the max level is displayed as 390. However, upon opening them, the actual max level is also 395.
- Day of Reckoning's narrative is unusual in that the introductory mission series does not require queuing for instances, instead adapting an alert/raid for single player, followed by a more story-heavy version of the challenge instance. Said alert/raid (DoR: Kaznian Necropolis Assault and DoR: Kaznian Necropolis Onslaught) are also unusual as slightly different versions of the same instance.
- The Day of Reckoning update changed "Story" difficulty to "Casual". It is possibly due to Reckoning's Hideout and Kaznian Necropolis Strike being story-heavier versions of On Duty instances, and to avoid confusion.
