Walkthrough[]
The raid starts with your group rendezvousing with the Birds of Prey, Superman, Supergirl and Oracle inside the volcano, ready to take on Lex Luthor.
Once inside and after a cutscene the fight commences with the raid group fighting a few waves of robot adds. Some of them may spawn lava AOEs that players must avoid or they will take considerable damage over time.
After a short cutscene, Lex Luthor joins the fight.
First boss: Lex Luthor
Note: This is a brief boss encounter and does not drop loot.
Mechanics:
- Rocket Launcher: Lex Luthor will fire several rockets in front of him. These do significant damage to affected players if they are hit directly, but can be easy to avoid.
- Adds will spawn to assist Lex Luthor in battle. (Pulverizer)
- Lava AOEs may spawn. These should be avoided or affected players will take considerable damage over time.
After Lex Luthor is down to 90% of his health, he will stop the fight and there will be a cutscene where he will spawn Brimstone (the real first boss), who will attack the group. Lex Luthor will seemingly team up with the group to defeat Brimstone.
First boss: Brimstone[]
A relatively straightforward boss encounter in both regular and elite versions.
Recommended roles for elite: 5 DPS, 1 Controller, 1 Heal, 1 Tank
A tank is highly recommended for the regular version as well, as many of Brimstone's attacks hit hard but focus towards the player who is nearest (proximity aggro). This will make things more convenient for the group when doing mechanics. It is preferred for the tank to be positioned near the entrance of the room and nearer to Brimstone than other group members, so that there is no risk of Brimstone firing his most powerful attacks towards other group members doing the turret/shield mechanics.
Mechanics:
- Pool of Lava: There will initially be one Pool of Lava AOE in the middle of the room to start off with, however they will spawn more widely around the room as the fight continues. If a player is stood in this they will take considerable damage over time, especially in the elite version. Later in the fight these will spawn via a small volcano animation tell. Superman will use his Freezing Breath ability to cool down areas of the room to create safe zones in between the lava AOEs.
- Fireball Spread: Brimstone will lift his hands in the air and throw several fireballs around the room. Affected players will take moderate damage if they are hit directly, but they are quite easy to avoid.
- Spike Wave: Brimstone will have a red skull icon above his head, before punching the ground and spawning a series of lava spikes in a cone in front of it. Affected players will take considerable damage (massive damage in the elite version) and will be knocked back.
- Flames of Apokolips: Brimstone will have a red skull icon above his head, before motioning his hands in front of him and producing powerful flames in a cone in front of it. Affected players will take very heavy damage, and may be stunned and knocked back. In elite this will KO non-tank players, and even a tank will take heavy damage from this.
- Meteor Strike: Brimstone may spawn several meteors from the floor that will rise up and then land as a meteor shower. Affected players will take major damage.
- Fire Boulder: Brimstone may roll fire boulders around the map at various enemy targets. Affected players will take damage and be knocked back. (This may also appear in the combat log as Boulder Hurl). (This may also be addressed in the combat log as Firestorm)
- Upheaval: Brimstone will lift his hands in the air, creating a small rock storm and potentially stunning and lifting nearby players in the air also, dealing damage.
- Primary Attack: Brimstone may punch down on the ground towards its target (initially with its left hand), dealing damage. He may do another similar ability called Ground Slap.
- Lava Ebb: Brimstone may spawn a lava tidal wave towards targets in front of it, dealing moderate to considerable damage. The initial impact may knock back affected players, and the second impact is more likely to deal damage. There is a similar ability with a smaller tidal wave of lava called Lava Flow which may also occur.
- Grasping Hand: Brimstone may grab his target with lava rock hand formations. This will deal considerable damage over time to the affected player. Preferably the tank should take this damage.
Apokoliptian Shield mechanic[]
- For much of the boss encounter, Brimstone will be considerably defence buffed. There will be multiple phases where some players will need to activate turrets in order to get rid of the Apokoliptian Shield that is causing this defence buff.
- On the first phase, the group will need to repair the turret control systems while minding other mechanics.
- On each phase, Brimstone's Apokoliptian Shielding will be at 100%. Up to 3 players (preferably 3) will need to get inside the turret control systems and shoot at Brimstone until the Apokoliptian Shielding is gone. With successful impacts from the turrets, the Apokoliptian Shielding should go down 10% at a time.
- When the Apokoliptian Shielding is gone, any players in a turret will be automatically removed from their turret form and return to normal, allowing them to fight Brimstone directly while he is vulnerable.
- On the second and last phases, the Birds of Prey will need to get the power back online so that the turrets can be used again. Once the power is back online, there will be a communicator pop-up from Huntress confirming this (in the second phase) and you will be able to use the turrets again. Up to 3 players can then use the turrets to get rid of the Apokoliptian Shielding.
After Brimstone is defeated, Lex Luthor absorbs his power to become Alpha Lex Luthor and turns on your group, which most predicted would happen. Jimmy Olsen turns up in one of Lex Luthor's war suits to assist the team, however Lex Luthor has control of the war suits and uses Jimmy Olsen to his advantage.
Last boss: Alpha Lex Luthor[]
A fairly straightforward boss encounter in the regular version. Should be straightforward in the elite version, although easy deaths are possible from various mechanics which may cause issues for some groups.
Recommended roles for elite: 5 DPS, 1 Controller, 1 Heal, 1 Tank
A tank is highly recommended for the regular version as well, as many of Alpha Lex Luthor's attacks (even Jimmy Olsen's attacks) hit hard but focus more towards the player with the most hate. This will make things more convenient for the group when doing mechanics.
Mechanics:
Overarching mechanics for the boss encounter:
- Rocket Launcher: Alpha Lex Luthor will fire several rockets in front of him. These do significant damage to affected players if they are hit directly, but can be easy to avoid. There is a low chance these may affect players directly while they are in the turret form. (This may also be addressed as Rocket Barrage in the combat log)
- Mining Robot adds may spawn to assist Alpha Lex Luthor in battle. They may spawn lava AOEs (Pool of Lava) via a Laser Beam, which players should avoid or they will take considerable damage over time.
- As the boss encounter continues, more adds may spawn to assist Alpha Lex Luthor in battle (Arachnobot, Security Robot, Pulverizer)
- Source Beam: Alpha Lex Luthor may look down on his target and fire a beam at it, dealing damage over time to the affected player.
Controlled Jimmy Olsen[]
While Controlled Jimmy Olsen is active in the boss encounter, Alpha Lex Luthor will be shielded in the air and invulnerable to damage from the group.
- Surface Strike: Jimmy Olsen may root a targeted player and then spawn an orbital strike on that player. The affected player should break out of the root effect as soon as possible and evade damage from the orbital strike or they will take damage. In the elite version this does massive damage and may cause a KO.
- The turrets from the last boss encounter will be able to be used again here, but they will now be regarded as LexCorp Sonic Turret. Once again preferably 3 players should go into them and once in the turret form, shoot the first 2 abilities towards Jimmy Olsen. It may be preferred for the tank to keep Controlled Jimmy Olsen nearer the middle so he can be hit by the Sonic Turrets, as he won't be affected if he is too far away.
- Jimmy Olsen's Control Override will start at 0%. Upon successful impact by the Sonic Turrets, the Control Override will go up by 20%. Once the Control Override is at 100% Jimmy will be freed from Lex's Control.
- There are two phases with Jimmy Olsen being controlled. There will be onscreen text when the second phase starts (when Alpha Lex Luthor is at approximately 70% health), stating: "Lex Luthor takes Control of Jimmy's Warsuit!". This onscreen text pop-up also occurs before starting this boss encounter, or directly after the cutscene following Brimstone's defeat.
- During the second phase, the group will need to help the Birds of Prey hack the turret controls in order to progress through the boss encounter. There will be consoles around the edge of the room, and in a certain order some of these will have an intractable icon with a timer that players will need to interact with. If one of these is missed the group will have to start this particular phase again until either they wipe or they successfully interact with each console again and hack the turret controls. Once the turret controls have been successfully hacked, 3 players will need to go into the turrets to free Jimmy Olsen from Lex's control.
- There will be onscreen text pop-ups for various Birds of Prey members when they hack their consoles respectively: "Poison Ivy Hacked her Console!", "Oracle Hacked her Console!"
- Towards the very end of the boss encounter, Alpha Lex Luthor will retake control of Jimmy's Warsuit, however Alpha Lex Luthor will still be active in the boss encounter.
Once Jimmy Olsen is freed from Lex's Control, there will be onscreen text stating: "Jimmy freed from Lex's Control! Lex is attacking!". Any players in a turret will automatically be returned to their normal form and can resume the fight against Alpha Lex Luthor.
Alpha Lex Luthor[]
- Source Ring: Alpha Lex Luthor will have a red skull icon above his head, while a white ring tell appears in front of him. Alpha Lex Luthor will then attempt to pull all players in range towards the centre of the ring tell. Affected players will take moderate damage. In the elite version it is best practice to block this, especially with other mechanics ongoing.
- Power Suit Blast: Alpha Lex Luthor may charge at his target, impacting them and spinning around. This deals significant damage and may knock back affected players.
- Alpha Lex Luthor will have a red skull icon above his head, before spawning a Source orbital AOE on his target. Should be fairly easy to avoid, but does considerable damage if the player is hit directly. (More info needed)
- Excessive Blast: Orbital Strike AOE, very similar to Jimmy Olsen's Surface Strike. Avoid or it will deal massive damage.
- Later in the boss encounter, Alpha Lex Luthor will enhance the adds assisting him in battle with Source Energy, increasing their size and damage towards the group.
- When Alpha Lex Luthor is at low health, he will spawn an optional sub boss (Source Powered Arachnobot Mk 2) to assist him in battle.
Once Alpha Lex Luthor is defeated you have completed the raid.

Trivia[]
- Lex Luthor is revealed to have harnessed Apokoliptian technology to gain the power of Source energy. He was an ally on Apokolips in Darkseid's War Factory, where Darkseid is also mentioned to be attempting to gain access to the Source, and Darkseid, Terror of the Universe (Investigations) includes an excerpt of Luthor's own ambitions on the Source. The Source Wall was cracked at the end of Metal Pt. II: Into the Dark Multiverse, releasing the Source energy into the universe.
- Lex Luthor uses Source energy to become Alpha Lex Luthor, a nod to his half-Martian form, Apex Lex, in DC's Year of the Villain event. In the comic book event, Lex blew himself up in his tower to prove his devotion to Perpetua so be could help her ascend to power. This is similar to how, in the game, the Birds of Prey episode indirectly leads to Perpetua's rise in Legion of Doom (Episode).
- During the Brimstone boss encounter, if a player uses a turret and focuses damage towards your NPC "ally" Lex Luthor, they will deal damage to him and give that player considerable extra damage on the scoreboard. This will stop once Lex Luthor is depleted of his health. This does not have any impact on the rest of the raid as you still have to fight his Alpha form later with full health.
