Utilize the power of nuclear energy, rearranging the atomic structure of yourself, your allies, and your enemies at will. This power allows you to split atoms, trigger thermochemical explosions, and burn enemies under intense, radiation pressure, causing incredible amounts of destruction. You can utilize the manipulation of matter at the atomic level to transmute into fortified metal, reorganizing your atomic structure to protect you and your allies in your tank role and harnessing the power of the basic units of matter to lay waste to your enemies in the damage role.

Access to Atomic powers will be available to members with an active subscription. Non-members may purchase access in the Marketplace for either 600 Daybreak Cash, 600 Marketplace Cash or 600 Loyalty Points.
Specializing in Tanking abilities, Atomic is the game's 14th power set.

Dodge

Press the Block button plus a direction to quickly dart in that direction in order to escape an incoming attack.
While dodging, ranged attacks are deflected.

Tank Role: While your Quark-Gluon Aura is active, you gain +15% Control Resistance, +25% Damage Absorption while not blocking, and your attacks Heal you for and amount equal to 2% of your max Health.

The second Beta Flood will refresh your Quark-Gluon Aura if it is already active.
Power Interactions : Adds a Nuclear Pressure stack. Once you have 3 stacks and gain 6 Molecular Charges, your Quark-Gluon Aura will activate.

Atom Splitter

Create a localized nuclear implosion that changes the atomic composition of nearby enemies, damaging and bringing them to you.

Continue causing localized implosions, damaging nearby enemies. Each additional attack grants you a Molecular Charge.
The first Atomic Fragmentation will pull enemies to you while the second will refresh your Quark-Gluon Aura if it is already active.
Power Interactions : Adds a Nuclear Pressure stack. Once you have 3 stacks and gain 6 Molecular Charges, your Quark-Gluon Aura will activate.
Enemies take additional damage while your Quark-Gluon Aura is active.

  • A 2009 CES Demo video contained a clip of an Atomic player character.
  • Atomic was one of the Powers in the Alpha version of DC Universe Online.
  • Atomic was mentioned in the April 2013 Developer Webcast as being a different power set than Quantum.
  • It was announced at SOE live in August 2014 that Atomic will be a new healer power set around early 2015. It has been stated that its name and animations maybe different to in game animations already live.
  • The Creative Director posted in June 2015 that Atomic would be the next Tank power set.
  • Atomic powers are currently used by many NPCs including OMACs, Shady Nightclub Thugs, Chemoids, Chemo and Metallo.
  • Green Radiation and Toxic Barrels are found throughout the game.
  • Atomic is the first power set with two Advanced Mechanics.
  • Atomic has been murky green and black since Alpha, but was released 5 years later in an orange, black and yellow form for players, inspired by Firestorm and Neutron.
  • Original ingame animations are now themed after Radiation, Nuclear Biohazard and Kryptonite effects, but are still in the Atomic category.
